The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation helped to improve conditions for pre-school children

An official event on the completion of the project "Children are our future" will be held on 2nd of November 2017 at "Altyn uya" kindergarten in Kaiyrma village of Onbir-Jylga municipality. The project has helped the municipality to improve conditions for pre-school education, through the purchase of material and equipment for “Altyn uya” kindergarten. The project was implemented by LSG of Onbir-Jylga aiyl aimak with the support of the project “Strengthening Voice and Accountability of Citizens’ Participation and Oversight of Budget Processes" (VAP), financed by the Government of Switzerland through the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC)  and implemented by the Development policy institute.

In 2015 a kindergarten for 75 children was opened inside of the elementary school in Kaiyrma village. However, due to lack of funds in the local budget, LSG bodies could not allocate funds for the full equipping of the kindergarten with all necessary furniture and equipment. The building and the premises of the kindergarten were in a satisfactory condition, but because of the lack of furniture, only 50 children attended the kindergarten. Children has slept in pairs on one bed, instead of children’s tables school desks were temporarily used. The playrooms were empty due to lack of furniture and toys; there were not enough chairs, wardrobes, bookshelves. At the village gathering for the selection of the project, the majority of the participants supported the project for the purchase of equipment and equipment for the kindergarten, which also passed the competitive selection under the Small Grants Program of the VAP Project.

The total project cost amounted to 1 100 000 som, out of which 1 million KGS was allocated by the Small Grants Program and 100 000 KGS is allocated from the local budget. Purchase of goods in the process of implementation of the project was done in accordance with the requirements of the legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic. A staff member of aiyl okmotu was trained on public procurement processes organized by the VAP Project. As a result of the tenders conducted by Onbir-Jylga aiyl okmotu private entrepreneur Masalbekova D. was selected to provide goods. Electric heaters, cabinets, children chairs, kitchen equipment, blankets, office equipment, children's toys and books were purchased under the project "Children are our future”.
