Five rural municipalities of the Issyk-Kul oblast in Kyrgyzstan have received USB modems and USB flash drives for effective information exchange and quick access to information.

The assistance was provided within the framework of the project “Strengthening Voice and Accountability: Citizens’ participation and oversight of budget processes”, which is realized by the Development Policy Institute with the financial support of the Government of Switzerland.

This project helps to strengthen the right of citizens to have access to budget information and to express their views on how it should be spent.

Employees of Bosteri, Lipenskiy, Aral, Ak-Chiy and Ulahol municipalities have been also trained on how to search for necessary information using various search systems, email and correspondence.

According to the head of the Ak-Chiy municipality Mr.Kaliev and the chairman of the Ak-Chiy local council Mr.Djantaev, Internet access will significantly increase their work effectiveness in many fields and activities.

Moreover, it is planned to allocate USB modems and flash drives for eight municipalities in the Jalal-Abad oblast in Kyrgyzstan and conduct special trainings.
